We were genuinely surprised, when towards the end of the Turnfest parade, the American flag was held aloft by a group of marchers.  Up to that point we believed ourselves to be the only Americans attending the Turnfest and there were not enough of us to march.

We found out after we arrived back home that the group of marchers were indeed Americans.  They are members of the Gamma Phi Circus at Illinois State University.  ISU has a website with a significant portion devoted to the Gamma Phi Circus.  You can view video of their performances and read their history there.

Gamma Phi, despite the Greek fraternity sound is more of a college club having an interest in gymnastics with firm contacts to big name circuses.   They perform in a very entertaining manner and if you get the chance to see them in person, take it.  The website videos demonstrate much humor along with the prowess of these gifted athletes.
