Mannheim Turnfest

A Turnfest is in general a festival of sports, but it includes many other things too.  A group of Long Island Turners join with the turners from the American Turners of New York and several other societies to travel to and participate in the German National Turnfest.  Besides just enjoying the festivities, we participate in gymnastics, track and field and swimming events.  There are shows and demonstrations to attend and parades as well as side trips to nearby attractions.  In general, the Turnfest occurs every 4 years and in 2013 it was Mannheims turn to host.  In 2017 the Turnfest will once again be held in Berlin.

You really can't get the whole experience from just seeing the photos below, but we hope to give you a taste of the excitement and enjoyment we get from participating.
